i don't understand the issue ;)
in case you mean do we have to know who wrote lyrics: yes, we do, as authors get their own share for composition and lyrics. that is, if there were two composers and one lyricist, the composers would have to equally share the revenue for composition, whereas the lyricist could keep a whole share.
